Michael Conforto Homers

On Thursday, the New York Mets announced they activated outfielder Michael Conforto from the 10-Day Disabled List and optioned infielder Phillip Evans to Las Vegas (AAA). Conforto is available for Thursday’s Mets/Nationals game in Washington.

New York Mets fans have missed Conforto, 25, who hit well for them last year in 109 games (.279 / 20 doubles / 27 home runs / 68 RBI. He was named to the NL All-Star team. Conforto’s last game in the majors was August 24, 2017. If he had played the entire year, there’s a likelihood he may have reached the 40 HR mark. On August 25th of last year, he was placed on the DL with a dislocation of his left shoulder and a tear in the posterior capsule in the shoulder.

At the time of his being placed on the Disabled List last year, he was among lead leaders in OPS (.944) OBP (.386) and slugging % (.558). Conforto was the first Met since David Wright in 2007 to hit 25 home runs at age 24 or below.

Infielder Phillip Evans, 25, had been hitless this season in three pinch-hitting appearances for the Mets in their first five games.
