Spring training is nearly over and with it comes some notable releases by MLB clubs.
On Sunday, the Washington Nationals released pitcher Jeremy Hellickson after only signing him the previous week. While on transaction wire, this seems like the Nationals are not giving Hellickson a chance, this post from MLBTradeRumors.com can clear up that misconception.
The Cleveland Indians released 1B/DH Mike Napoli and then signed him to their AAA affiliate. Napoli played with the Texas Rangers last year hitting 29 HRs while batting a dismal .193 with 163 Ks.
Ben Revere was released by the Cincinnati Reds after hitting only .125 during spring training. Could this be the end of Revere’s MLB career. He was a favorite of mine when he was with the Phillies. I always loved his speed. I’m a stolen base fanatic.
