Hill Alexander can hit home runs. He can hit them over the trees… if there are trees past the out field fence, like they are at the Player Development Center (PDC) field in Bedford, Texas. I used to watch him hit bombs at PDC every time he was there for hitting practice with Steve and Bradley. Well, maybe he didn’t hit them over the trees each time he hit the balls out, but he did cut a lot of high branches off those beautiful pine trees.
If you don’t know Hill Alexander, allow me to introduce him. He attended Pantego Christian Academy in high school where he lettered all four years and played for Coach Jeff Kemp. He played his summer ball for the Dallas Mustangs baseball team. He played his freshman and sophomore seasons at Midland College where he hit .402 with 26 home runs in his freshman year. He later transferred for one year at Dallas Baptist University and after that one season, transferred to Lubbock Christian University.
He was drafted in 2019 by the Tampa Rays in the 28th round of the MLB draft. He played low A ball at Hudson Valley that season and hit .264 and hit 4 HRs in 64 games. Then, this season, he began at Class A Charleston and later moved to High Class A Bowling Green. This year combined, he’s hitting .288 with 12 HRs.
On August 13th, Hill accomplished something no other Bowling Green Hot Rod player had done before. He hit 3 HRs in one game, the final one putting the team ahead in the 5th inning. Check out his 3 HR performance below. The way he swung the bat on this night seemed very reminiscent of his hitting BP at PDC back in Bedford. We’re all rooting for you Hill. Keep up the good work!
